GIFTS

• Add the gifts you’d like to receive to the database.
• Mark the Featured checkbox to display them on your dashboard.

PROMOTIONS

• If you have any promotion codes, enter them into the database and connect them to the related gifts. It’s more likely that people will buy something if there’s a discount available.

DASHBOARD → Be My Santa!

This page is the one to share with friends and family. Customise it however you like.

• Add your name to the title “My Christmas Wishlist” (e.g. Sara’s Christmas Wishlist)
• Edit the page icon to suit the celebration.
• Enter your upcoming celebration on the top left callout so people know their deadline. 😉
  • You can click the date to select a new date.
  • Alternatively, you can type @ followed by a date, e.g. @January 2 2024.
• Add a happy photo of you in the image box on your dashboard (maybe a photo from last year’s celebration) so people can see how beautiful you look when you’re happy. Make them want to make you happy!

SHARE THE LINK→ Be My Santa!

• You can invite friends and family members with a Notion account. So they can update the status to “On the way” when they purchase an item. This way, you can avoid double gifts.
• You can share the page with people if they don't have Notion accounts. Just publish this page to the web and share the link. However, in this case, they won’t be able to edit your database, so you may end up with double gifts - which may be okay for some items, like a much-loved T-shirt. </aside>

<aside> <img src="/icons/gift_purple.svg" alt="/icons/gift_purple.svg" width="40px" /> We waste money, time, resources, and hope on gift buying. We try to guess what would make a loved one happy. And sadly, most of us fail big time in our guesses and create mountains of wasted gifts. Those unwanted gifts end up in charity shops, at the bottom of a drawer, or get repurposed for someone else who probably won’t want it either.

Let’s stop the gift waste!

I tried this system on my last birthday, sharing a version of this template with my family. It worked perfectly well. I received half of the gifts on my list, and no waste for a change!

I know this will be my solution for all celebrations in the future. It can be yours, too.

When someone asks you what you want for your birthday, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s/Father’s Day, or Christmas, just send them the link to this page and try to guess what they’ll choose.
